Exhibition of a series of graphic works by Dasha Namdakov "Ink"
From December 17th
Irkutsk, V. Bronstein Gallery
Dasha Namdakov's work clearly shows two components: an excellent professional academic school and images of ancient Oriental cultures as a source of inspiration. This is clearly evident in his graphic works on rice paper.
Dasha got the idea to create this series during a trip to China, when she became closely acquainted with local artists. And the use of ink and rice paper, which are necessary to create works of traditional Chinese painting, is certainly no coincidence.
The influence of traditional Chinese art is not an attempt to copy, but transformation and dialogue: the artist uses aesthetic principles and materials to talk about important topics for himself, thereby creating a unique artistic language.
It is worth emphasizing that in Chinese painting, lines and strokes, spots and blurring — all these techniques are read as energy. A dry stroke with a non-color effect, as if with natural gaps left by a moving brush, the so-called "floating" or "flying white" is Yang. The moist, wide line is Yin. The secret of a real masterpiece is that there should be so many different strokes and spots that all together they create harmony.
We see references to this knowledge in the graphic works of this cycle.
