Guests and participants of the Zabaykalsky Foreign Economic Forum “New Horizons – 2026” were welcomed at the Zabaykalsky Regional Drama Theatre by Governor of Transbaikalia Alexander Osipov and world-renowned Transbaikalian sculptor Dashi Namdakov.
The head of the region noted that Transbaikalia is currently demonstrating one of the most impressive rates of economic and investment growth, as well as social progress. According to Alexander Osipov, this is the result of joint efforts by federal and regional authorities, as well as close cooperation with China and Mongolia.
“I am truly pleased to welcome all of you—those who have come here from Mongolia, China, and other parts of the country, as well as the residents of Transbaikalia, who sincerely care about their region and think about their neighbors, because the traditions of hospitality are of utmost importance to us. I would like to thank those who are helping us now—both at this forum and in our development efforts—by supporting cooperation with China and Mongolia. These include the Government of the Russian Federation, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy Yuri Trutnev, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Economic Development. With their attention and support, we are solving the most complex tasks that make the greatest contribution to our development momentum. Today, figures will be presented that demonstrate the real growth of Zabaykalsky Krai—its budget, material well-being, and the implementation of investment projects across various sectors. Of course, these achievements are the result of highly professional and very demanding work,” Alexander Osipov emphasized.
The governor also highlighted the importance of the Zabaykalsky Foreign Economic Forum, noting that it provides an opportunity to discuss the most pressing issues of cross-border cooperation aimed at economic development and improving the well-being of people in the three countries.
“This is already the fourth year we have been holding this forum. We strive to make it as practical as possible and will continue to focus on the most pressing issues of good-neighborly relations and cooperation. Thank you for your participation,” the head of the region said.
World-renowned Russian sculptor, graphic artist, jeweler, and designer Dashi Namdakov also addressed the forum guests from the stage of the regional drama theatre.
“I am glad to welcome fellow residents and guests of our forum. The land we stand on is incredibly rich and fertile, with abundant natural resources—including the metals I work with. I would strongly encourage you to collaborate with us and with our region. I have traveled extensively around the world, and I believe our region is the most beautiful and благодатный (blessed and generous). We have everything here—let’s build friendships and work together. Thank you for coming to our forum,” said Dashi Namdakov.
On the second day of the Zabaykalsky Foreign Economic Forum “New Horizons – 2026,” discussions focused on strengthening trade and industrial ties. Experts will analyze the role of Zabaykalsky Krai as a region best suited for large-scale international joint projects.
The forum is organized by the Government of Zabaykalsky Krai in cooperation with the Roscongress Foundation, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Ministry of Transport of Russia, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia, as well as the Development Corporation of Zabaykalsky Krai and the Tourism Agency of Zabaykalsky Krai.
